US Senate rejects bid to block Trump from Iran strikes

Trump’s 15-day ultimatum to Iran: Countdown to diplomacy or the brink of war?

WEB DESK: The US Senate has defeated a key war powers resolution that would have prevented President Donald Trump from taking military action against Iran and limited his authority to carry out further strikes without congressional approval.

The resolution was rejected by a margin of 47 to 53, giving President Trump the legal ground to continue taking further action against Iran.

According to US media, the resolution was led by Senator Tim Kaine and was supported by 26 other senators, but Republicans blocked the resolution with a majority.

Senator Rand Paul was the only Republican to support it, while Senator Jon Fetterman, a Democrat, opposed it.

A heated debate continued among senators in the Senate session, with Democrats insisting that Congress must retain control over war decisions and that the president cannot be allowed to launch a one-man war.

Senator Adam Schiff said the resolution was not just about stopping war but about balancing the president’s unlimited powers.

Republicans opposed the resolution, calling the president’s military actions necessary for national security.
