US Embassy in Islamabad Suspends Visa Services Until March 6

ISLAMABAD: The United States (US) Embassy in Islamabad has suspended all visa services until March 6 due to security concerns.

The suspension also applies to US consulates in Lahore and Karachi, the embassy said. Visa services had already been halted until March 2, but the deadline has now been extended.

The move follows violent protests at the U.S. consulate in Karachi on Sunday, where security personnel fired on demonstrators, leaving 10 dead and 35 injured.

Protesters in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi staged demonstrations outside US diplomatic missions following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
