Over 100 flights cancelled from Pakistan amid Iran-Israel war

ISLAMABAD: Amidst escalating military and political tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, over 100 international flights from various airports across Pakistan to destinations in the Middle East have been abruptly canceled, stranding thousands of passengers.

According to official sources at the Civil Aviation Authority and airport management, the wave of cancellations has hit the country’s busiest airports the hardest. A total of 22 international flights were canceled at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, while 18 flights were grounded at Islamabad International Airport, leaving a large number of travelers struggling to make alternate arrangements.

The situation is not limited to the major hubs. Airport sources confirmed that several flights scheduled to depart for the Middle East from Multan, Sialkot, Peshawar, and Quetta airports have also been suspended. Furthermore, multiple flights from Jinnah International Airport in Karachi to various cities across the Middle East were canceled throughout the day.

The cancellations have caused widespread disruption and frustration among passengers, many of whom are laborers, businessmen, and families with urgent travel plans. Long queues formed at information desks as travelers sought refunds or rebooking options.

While official statements from individual airlines are awaited, industry insiders suggest the precautionary measure is being taken by carriers to avoid flying over volatile airspace amid fears of possible military retaliation or missile strikes. The cancellation of these 100+ flights highlights the significant impact of the deteriorating geopolitical situation on civilian travel and connectivity between Pakistan and the Middle East.
