TEHRAN: The Faras News Agency citing sources, close to the leadership have strongly denied a statement made by U.S. President Donald Trump claiming the assassination of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to a report by Iran’s Faras News Agency, the claim, which emerged amidst reports of U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, is completely baseless. Citing informed sources within the Leader’s office, the agency reported that Ayatollah Khamenei remains safe and in firm command of the situation on the ground .
“Almost all officials are safe and sound and alive,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had earlier told NBC News, in statements that preceded the latest denial. “We may have lost one or two commanders, but that is not a big problem” .
In a direct response to the swirling international reports, the head of public relations at the Supreme Leader’s office accused the country’s enemies of waging “mental warfare” against the Islamic Republic. “The enemy is resorting to mental warfare, all should be aware,” the official was quoted as saying by Iranian state media .
The denial follows a massive military operation launched by the U.S. and Israel, which President Trump detailed in a social media post on his Truth Social platform. While Trump claimed that Khamenei was “unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems,” Iranian news agencies such as Tasnim and Mehr have consistently reported that the Supreme Leader is “steadfast and firm in commanding the field” .
