“If War is imposed…”: Iran’s stark warning to US raises fears of a region on the brink

Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has issued a stern warning to the United States, cautioning that any imposed war would carry “devastating consequences” and could engulf the entire Middle East in instability.

Araghchi made it clear that Tehran would not bow to threats or pressure. He focused on that while Iran remains fully committed to reaching a fair and dignified agreement with Washington, it is equally prepared for both peace and conflict.

“Iran cannot be forced into surrender,” he asserted, underlining what he described as the country’s strengthened position compared to the past.

Araghchi pointed to Israel as the only state in the region actively fueling tension and promoting a war-like atmosphere. The Iranian foreign minister stressed that any potential military confrontation would not remain limited to Iran and the United States.

He warned that the repercussions could destabilize the entire Middle East, creating consequences far beyond bilateral relations. In this regard, as per the Aragch, dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual respect remain the only viable solutions to prevent further escalation.

Araghchi declared that Iran will not relinquish what it calls its legitimate right to peaceful nuclear energy. He maintained that Iran’s nuclear program operates within the framework of international law and denied any pursuit of nuclear weapons.

“Our policy is defensive, not aggressive,” he said, rejecting claims that Iran seeks to develop weapons capable of reaching the United States.

Araghchi also criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump, suggesting he had relied on misinformation regarding Iran, which he argued contributed to rising tensions.

Meanwhile, the third round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States is set to begin in Geneva, under the mediation of Oman.
