QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet on Wednesday approved a series of key policy measures at its 23rd meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
Provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind briefed reporters after the session and outlined the decisions.
The cabinet condemned the Jan. 31 militant attacks and paid tribute to those killed. Members expressed solidarity with the affected families. The provincial government and security forces reaffirmed their resolve to eliminate militancy.
Lawmakers approved a climate-smart agriculture project aimed at improving water efficiency and boosting crop yields. The cabinet also cleared the Balochistan Land Lease Policy 2026, which officials said would attract investment and create jobs.
To strengthen food security, the cabinet decided to procure 0.50 million metric tons of wheat. It took strict notice of irregularities in government wheat stocks and formed a parliamentary subcommittee to investigate the matter. Authorities ordered indiscriminate action against officials found involved in corruption.
The cabinet approved funds to pay salaries of Balochistan Development Authority employees and endorsed restructuring plans for autonomous bodies. It also cleared the Balochistan Public-Private Partnership Act 2025 and the Levies Force Amendment Bill 2025.
Members directed authorities to enhance security on national highways and instructed the inspector general of police to submit a report within seven days.
Rind said the government would continue efforts to ensure peace, economic stability and institutional reforms in the province.
