PESHAWAR: Three FC Personnel Martyred in Karak District After Drone Attack on Post Followed by Ambush on Ambulance

In a brazen and multi-stage militant attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district, three personnel of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) were martyred after militants first struck an FC post with an explosive-laden quadcopter drone and later opened fire on the ambulance evacuating the wounded.

According to officials, the initial assault occurred early Monday at an FC installation in the Dargah Shaheedan area.

A quadcopter drone dropped explosives on the post, injuring five FC personnel.

Rescue 1122 teams promptly responded and transported the injured to a nearby hospital. However, in the Bahadur Khel area en route, armed militants ambushed the ambulance, firing indiscriminately at the vehicle.

The attack resulted in the martyrdom of three of the already-wounded FC personnel inside the ambulance.

Two Rescue 1122 workers were also injured during the firing.

District Police Officer (DPO) Karak confirmed the sequence of events, stating that the remaining injured individuals, including the two rescue personnel, have been shifted to hospital for treatment and are under medical care.

Security forces have launched a comprehensive search and intelligence-based operation across the area to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

No group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of reporting, though such tactics involving commercially modified quadcopters for dropping improvised explosives have become increasingly common in militant operations across parts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent months.

Authorities have condemned the incident as a cowardly act targeting security personnel and humanitarian responders.

Condolences have been extended to the families of the martyred FC personnel.

This latest attack underscores the persistent security challenges in the region and the evolving tactics employed by militants, including the use of low-cost drones to target law enforcement and paramilitary forces.

Further details are awaited as investigations continue.
