ISLAMABAD: The senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Member of the National Assembly Ali Muhammad Khan has revealed that the government had extended an offer to PTI’s leadership to meet the party’s founding chairman in jail.
Ali Muhammad Khan said that while he was not directly part of the decision-making at that moment, he believed refusing such an opportunity under pressure was a mistake.
“If I were in that position, I would certainly have gone to meet him,” he stated, adding that he would have personally inquired about the former prime minister’s health.
He focused on that confirming the well-being of the PTI founder through a direct meeting would have been the appropriate course of action.
Furthermore, Ali Muhammad Khan also urged party members to show sensitivity toward the emotions of Aleema Khan, the sister of the PTI founder. He said that as a close family member, her sentiments deserve understanding and respect, even if expressed strongly.
He noted that the Chief Justice had issued clear directions concerning three matters related to the PTI founder: his health, access to his children, and provision of books.
He described these as explicit instructions from the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He further suggested that the government should at least allow the former prime minister’s personal physician, Faisal Sultan, to meet him, focusing on that medical consultations should not be politicized.
Ali Muhammad Khan addressed recent discussions about forming a force to campaign for the PTI founder’s release.
