Heavy rains lash Balochistan, low-lying areas flooded

Rain and snowfall forecasted across Pakistan

QUETTA: Parts of Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta, received significant rainfall on Monday , with the downpour ranging from light to heavy intensity, leading to flooding in low-lying areas.

The meteorological office reported that widespread cloud cover formed over several districts, including Kalat, Khuzdar, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, and Kharan. Steady rainfall continued in multiple regions, notably in Kech, Turbat, Panjgur, Ziarat, Chaman, Qila Saifullah, and Kachhi. The coastal belt and other areas, including Gwadar, Awaran, Pasni, Ormara, Lasbela, Hub, and Barkhan, also received precipitation.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the current weather system is likely to persist, with a forecast predicting more rain in various parts of the province today.

In a separate weather-related development, the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M-11) was closed to traffic due to dense fog, which significantly reduced visibility. The Motorway Police have issued an advisory urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the foggy conditions to ensure their safety.
