Colombo: In their second match of the World T20 Cup, Pakistan defeated the United States by 32 runs.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 190 for 9 in their allotted overs. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with a brilliant 73 off 42 balls.
Babar Azam contributed 46 off 32 deliveries, while Shadab Khan played a useful cameo of 30.
For the USA, Shalkoik was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets.
Chasing the target, the United States started aggressively, with their openers putting on 42 runs quickly.
However, Pakistan’s spinners then broke the momentum by taking key wickets. Shadab Khan, Nawaz, and Abrar applied consistent pressure with tight bowling.
The standout performer with the ball was Usman Tariq, who delivered an exceptional spell, taking 3 wickets for just 27 runs in his spell.
Shadab Khan picked up 2 wickets, while Nawaz and Shaheen Shah Afridi each claimed 1.
For the USA, Shubham Ranjne scored 51 and Shayan Jahangir made 49, but the team could only manage 158 for 8 in their innings.
This victory marks Pakistan’s second consecutive win in the tournament, having previously defeated the Netherlands on Saturday.
