SARGODHA: In a shocking case of domestic violence and attempted cover-up, a woman was allegedly murdered by her husband and brother-in-law in the village of Tankiwala, Sargodha, before the accused declared her death as natural and hastily buried her.
According to police and local sources, the tragic crime came to light when a female relative arrived to perform the ritual bathing of the deceased’s body. During the process, she observed clear signs of violence, including marks on the woman’s neck, indicating foul play. Suspecting a murder disguised as a natural death, she immediately alerted other villagers.
The locals then informed the police, who swiftly arrived at the scene. Based on the initial evidence and testimonies, law enforcement officers arrested the victim’s husband and his brother on suspicion of murder. A formal case has been registered against the accused, who are now in custody as the investigation intensifies.
“The accused had presented the death as natural and proceeded with the burial,” a police official stated. “It was only due to the vigilance of a relative during the ghusl (ritual bath) that the truth began to emerge.”
To ascertain the exact cause of death, the police have sought a magistrate’s approval for an exhumation and post-mortem examination. Upon approval, a medical board will conduct the autopsy, which is expected to provide crucial forensic evidence for the case.
The incident has sent waves of grief and anger through the rural community, highlighting grim issues of domestic violence. Police authorities have assured a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served for the victim.
