Pakistan to boycott the WC match against India

New Delhi: Indian media has claimed that Pakistan may boycott its T20 World Cup match against India.

According to a report by the well-known Indian cricket website Cricket-Addictor, Pakistan is seriously considering boycotting the match against India in the T20 World Cup as a show of solidarity with Bangladesh.

The report states that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which some key decisions related to this matter have already been taken.

Under these decisions, Pakistan could boycott the match against India scheduled in Colombo.

The report notes that although Colombo is a neutral venue, the PCB could use the justification that the decision has been made in light of government directives amid the recent tensions between Pakistan and India, and therefore refuse to play the match.

It further mentions that this particular match is a major source of revenue for both the ICC and India.

A boycott decision would not be easy at all, as the ICC could impose strict penalties on Pakistan under its rules against allowing political decisions to harm cricket.

This could include heavy fines, sanctions, or other punitive measures.

However, the PCB is reportedly weighing all possible options to avoid playing the match against India while also trying to minimize or escape any potential ICC penalties, fines, or financial losses that might follow such a boycott.
