ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has issued a carefully worded but decisive response that could significantly shape the region’s next moves.
The UAE has categorically ruled out any use of its territory for military action against Iran. Emirati authorities clarified that the country’s airspace, land, and territorial waters will not be permitted for launching or facilitating attacks on any state.
The statement further focused on that, in the event of a military escalation, the UAE would not provide logistical assistance of any kind, including military equipment, facilities, or operational support. The message appeared aimed at removing any ambiguity amid growing regional uncertainty.
This position comes at a time when geopolitical signals from Washington are being closely watched across the Middle East.
The United States has recently deployed its aircraft carrier strike group, USS Abraham Lincoln, to Gulf waters. The US media reports claim the carrier group has moved close to the Gulf of Oman, a location often viewed as strategically sensitive in the context of Iran-related military planning.
In this regard, the US officials have not publicly confirmed the specific objectives of the deployment, earlier statements by the American president indicated increased monitoring of developments involving Iran. The movement of naval assets has only added to speculation about possible next steps.
Against this backdrop, the UAE stressed that the only viable path forward lies in de-escalation. The statement underlined the importance of dialogue, adherence to international law, and respect for national sovereignty, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s long-standing position on regional stability.
However, tensions are not easing on the other side of the Gulf.
Iranian military officials have issued stark warnings, signaling a high state of readiness. In a statement that quickly drew global attention, Iran’s armed forces suggested they were awaiting only a directive from the country’s supreme leadership to respond to any hostile action.
