From "Roblox" to Real Life: German Doctor Marries Pakistani Gamer

MANDI BAHAUDDIN;  In an unconventional love story capturing hearts online, a 26-year-old German doctor has relocated to a Pakistani village to marry a 22-year-old man she met while playing an online video game.

The couple, Dr. Salma, who holds German and Bosnian citizenship, and Mohammad Akmal from Defar village in Mandi Bahauddin, connected through the popular online platform Roblox five months ago. Their virtual friendship quickly blossomed into romance. “I had proposed to Salma on the first day of the conversation,” Akmal revealed in an interview, adding that after initial hesitation, she agreed to come to Pakistan.

Supported by Akmal’s family, who reportedly spent over 3.7 million rupees on travel and wedding arrangements, the couple tied the knot in a ceremony that has since gone viral on social media. The story is being widely praised for its simplicity and sincerity.

For Dr. Salma, the transition to rural Pakistani life has been a profound new experience. She described initial surprise at village life and daily chores but expressed deep happiness with her husband. “Household chores like washing dishes, clothes, and making bread were a new experience for me,” she said. “Although it was difficult in the first few days, I gradually learned.”

Her journey from a video game chat to a cross-cultural marriage in rural Punjab has become a symbol of modern, borderless romance, resonating with thousands who are celebrating their unique love story online.
