SHIKARPUR: A senior police officer was martyred on Thursday during a confrontation with armed robbers on the Sukkur Road national highway, leading to a major manhunt across the region.
According to police officials, the incident occurred when more than seven robbers were reportedly intercepting passenger buses and looting travelers. Upon receiving the alert, a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Lucky Ghulam Shah Khamisu Brohi immediately responded and arrived at the scene.
The criminals opened indiscriminate fire as soon as they saw the police. In the ensuing gunfire, SHO Lucky Brohi sustained critical bullet wounds. He was rushed to a private hospital in Sukkur for emergency treatment but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Police officials stated that the assailants, after the fatal shooting, managed to flee the scene. A high-level investigation has been initiated, and specialized police teams have been formed to track down and apprehend the perpetrators. Authorities have expressed confidence that the robbers will be taken into custody soon.
The martyrdom of SHO Lucky Brohi has sent shockwaves through the local law enforcement community and the district. He is remembered as a committed officer who led his team from the front.
