Babar Azam’s BBL journey ends, called back to Pakistan camp

Sydney: Babar Azam’s stint with Sydney Sixers in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2026 season has come to an end.

According to details, Pakistan’s star batsman has been immediately called back to the Pakistan team camp, bringing his time with Sydney Sixers to a close.

Yesterday, former Australian player and current commentator Mark Waugh commented on Babar’s performance, saying: “I don’t think Babar Azam is performing at the moment. If Sydney Sixers want to win this tournament, they will have to drop him.”

Following this statement, Babar Azam has left the ongoing BBL season before the knockout matches even began.

In a message posted on social media platform X, Babar thanked his fans and wrote that he is returning with very good memories.

It is worth mentioning that in BBL 2026, Babar Azam played 10 matches, scoring only 193 runs at an average of 21, with his highest score being 58.
