Pakistan Ex-Interior Minister Passes Away

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistani Interior Minister Major (retd) Raja Nadir Pervez has died, prompting an outpouring of grief across political and social circles.

Leaders described him as a seasoned politician, an experienced parliamentarian, and a public servant committed to democratic values.

Raja Nadir Pervez played a long and active role in national politics. He was elected to the National Assembly five times. He won four terms from Faisalabad and one from Rawalpindi. He represented public issues in parliament and oversaw development projects in his constituencies.

During his career, he served with several political parties and alliances. These included Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad. Despite shifting political affiliations, he remained known for respecting parliamentary traditions and democratic norms.

He held key federal portfolios during his career. As interior minister, he handled internal security and administrative affairs. He also served as federal minister for water and power. Decisions taken during his tenure on energy and law and order remained under discussion for years.

Raja Nadir Pervez came from a military background. He retired from the Pakistan Army with the rank of major before entering politics. Colleagues described him as disciplined, tolerant, and pragmatic. These traits earned him a reputation as a moderate and serious political figure.
