Islamabad: Federal Government Announces Public and Optional Holidays for 2026
The Cabinet Secretariat has officially announced the schedule of public holidays for the year 2026, covering national, Islamic, and minority festivals.
According to the schedule, the first public holiday of the year will be Kashmir Day on Thursday, February 5. This will be followed by Pakistan Day on Monday, March 23.
Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed with public holidays on March 21, 22, and 23. International Labour Day will be a holiday on May 1, and Youm-e-Takbeer on May 28.
Eid-ul-Adha will have three consecutive public holidays on May 27, 28, and 29, while 9th and 10th Muharram (corresponding to June 24 and 25) will also be public holidays.
Independence Day will be observed on Friday, August 14, and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) on Tuesday, August 25.
Other public holidays include Allama Iqbal’s birth anniversary on Monday, November 9, Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas on Friday, December 25. The day after Christmas, December 26, will be a holiday exclusively for the Christian community.
Additionally, January 1, February 18, and July 1 will be bank holidays.
