Trump invites PM Shehbaz to join Gaza ‘Board of Peace’: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister of Pakistan has received an invitation from the President of the United States Donald Trump to join the Board of Peace on Gaza, as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The announcement was made by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Tahir Andrabi, while responding to media queries in Islamabad.

In this sense, the proposed forum and Pakistan’s prospective role remain undisclosed, the invitation itself has drawn attention from diplomatic observers both at home and abroad.

Pakistan views the invitation as part of broader international efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in Gaza. Mr Andrabi stated that Pakistan would continue to engage constructively with the global community to support initiatives that could lead to a lasting and just resolution of the Palestine issue.

He focused on that Pakistan’s approach remains firmly rooted in internationally recognized principles, particularly relevant United Nations resolutions. “Pakistan has consistently advocated for peace, dialogue, and respect for international law,” the spokesperson noted, reaffirming Islamabad’s long-standing position on the matter.

The Board of Peace on Gaza has not yet been fully outlined publicly, diplomatic sources suggest that it may serve as a platform to coordinate political, humanitarian, and security-related initiatives concerning the ongoing crisis.

The Foreign Office made it clear that Pakistan’s involvement would align with its principled foreign policy and commitment to peace.

“Any engagement will aim to contribute positively towards international peace and security,” Andrabi added.
