75 Quetta feeders exempt from load shedding: KESCO

KESCO Announces Major Reduction in Load Shedding Across Balochistan

QUETTA: In a significant development for power consumers, the Quetta Electric Supply Company (KESCO) has announced a major restructuring of its load management schedule, declaring a total of 153 feeders across Balochistan as load-shedding free.

The move comes on the directives of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) and the company’s Board of Directors, aiming to improve electricity supply. In the provincial capital, a major relief has been provided, with 75 out of 139 feeders in Quetta city now exempt from any scheduled power outages. Notably, all feeders connected to the crucial 132 KV Quetta City and Mariabad Grid Stations fall under this exempt category. For the remaining 64 feeders in the city, load shedding has been standardized to between 4 to 6 hours daily on a scheduled basis.

The positive update extends to other regions. In Makran, 34 out of 70 feeders, including those connected to Gwadar’s four grid stations, are now free of load shedding. The other 36 feeders in the division will receive 16 to 18 hours of daily supply. Furthermore, 44 feeders in major cities like Khuzdar, Kalat, Loralai, and Zhob have also been declared exempt.

For all district and tehsil headquarters across the province, KESCO has guaranteed 14 to 16 hours of daily electricity. All other remaining feeders in the province will receive a baseline of 6 hours of daily supply, with the potential for extended hours linked directly to improvements in bill recovery rates from consumers.

While announcing this relief, KESCO management appealed to consumers to ensure timely payment of bills and arrears, stating that better revenue collection is key to further enhancing supply hours. The company also committed to informing consumers in advance about any necessary outages for development or repair work via social media and the press.
