QUETTA: In a targeted operation, Quetta police apprehended three individuals allegedly involved in a series of thefts following a brief exchange of gunfire in the city’s Baruri area. The successful raid is part of ongoing efforts to curb street crime and target criminals who have brazenly flaunted their activities.

According to a police spokesperson, the operation was launched in the Kali Khali neighborhood based on credible intelligence. Upon the police team’s arrival, the suspects reportedly opened fire in an attempt to evade capture. The police retaliated, leading to a brief shootout. All three suspects were subsequently overpowered and arrested without any casualties reported among law enforcement personnel.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ali Ahmed, alias Shahasta Khan, Noorullah, and Muhammad Rafiq. During the operation, authorities recovered significant evidence from their possession, including one pistol and two stolen motorcycles, which are believed to have been used in the commission of various crimes.

Police investigations reveal that the trio were wanted in several cases of theft and robbery already registered at the Baruri Police Station. Notably, the suspects had gained notoriety for their alleged involvement in crimes captured in viral videos circulating on social media platforms, where they were seen openly brandishing weapons.

“The suspects are habitual offenders and were actively involved in criminal activities that terrorized the local community,” a senior police official stated. The police have registered a new case against them for attempted murder and illegal weapon possession stemming from the firefight. A comprehensive investigation is now underway to uncover further details of their criminal network and to link them to other unsolved cases in the district. Further legal action is being pursued.
