Internet Services in Pakistan May Go Down Tomorrow

Internet Services in Pakistan May Go Down on January 15

ISLAMABAD: Internet services across Pakistan are expected to slow on January 15 due to scheduled maintenance on one of the country’s submarine cables, telecom provider Nayatel warned on Wednesday.

Nayatel informed customers in an email that the maintenance would begin around 2 PM and could last up to eight hours.

The company said the work may cause nationwide internet slowness and apologized for any inconvenience. It did not specify the exact location of any prior faults on the submarine cables.

If the slowdown occurs, it will mark the second major disruption in two weeks. On January 1, internet services were disrupted for more than two days following a problem with one of Pakistan’s upstream providers.
