QUETTA: In an unprecedented move for Balochistan’s politics, the Haq Do Tehreek (HDT) will present its elected representative before a “public court” for accountability. The party announced that MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch will present his two-year performance report directly to his constituents at a grand public meeting on February 12 at Mullah Fazil Chowk in Gwadar.
During a press conference at the party’s central office, HDT leaders, including district chairman Akram Fida, framed the decision as a bold, principled, and historic step. They declared that this is the first time any political party or movement in Balochistan’s history has voluntarily submitted its elected representative for public review and judgment.
“This is practical proof that the Haq Do Tehreek is not just a political party but a pure public movement, where the opinion and consent of the people are paramount,” stated the leaders. They criticized traditional politicians who, once elected, allegedly neglect public accountability, asserting that HDT remains committed to its foundational promise of popular sovereignty.
At the gathering, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman will detail his performance, legislative struggles, and stance on public issues. Crucially, citizens will have the “full democratic right” to question him, offer opinions, and ultimately judge his tenure. The event is positioned as a radical experiment in direct democratic accountability, challenging conventional political norms in the province.
