PM Shehbaz forms committee to review federal development projects in KP

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the formation of a high-level committee to review the progress of federal government-funded development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The committee will be headed by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal.

The committee will visit Peshawar and hold consultations with elected public representatives to assess the implementation status of ongoing development schemes sponsored by the federal government. The review aims to ensure transparency, efficiency and timely completion of projects intended to improve public services and infrastructure in the province.

Furthermore, the decision was announced during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and political representatives from KP. The prime minister assured participants that the federal government remained fully committed to supporting the province through continued development initiatives within its constitutional mandate.

In such a case, the premier stated that the federal government was aware of the challenges faced by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and was taking practical steps to address public concerns and promote sustainable development.

He focused on that ongoing federal projects were designed to improve the quality of life for citizens, particularly in key sectors such as infrastructure, education and public welfare.

Moreover, the provincial government was facing difficulties due to what they described as weak governance. They informed the prime minister that there was a lack of clear policy direction in key sectors including health, education, infrastructure and public welfare.

They further noted that insufficient attention was being given to resolving the everyday problems of the public. In this sense, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged public representatives to remain focused on addressing the needs of the people and to work collectively for the betterment of the province.

He reasserted that public service and development should remain the top priority of all elected officials.

The prime minister noted that laptops had been distributed on merit among male and female students across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including in Haripur, as part of efforts to promote education and digital access among youth.

The formation of the review committee reflects the federal government’s continued focus on monitoring development progress and strengthening coordination with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of public projects in the province.
