QUETTA : The Balochistan government has announced a strict province-wide crackdown against all unlicensed and substandard child nurseries, following a serious alleged incident of a child being exchanged at a private facility in the provincial capital.
The decision was disclosed by Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, who took immediate notice of the distressing report from Quetta. He has ordered a high-level inquiry and referred the case to the Balochistan Healthcare Commission to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation.
“DNA testing has also been ordered to establish the child’s identity and uncover all facts, so that justice can be provided to the affected family and no ambiguity remains,” Minister Kakar stated.
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy, the minister warned that no negligence in child protection would be tolerated. He declared that indiscriminate action would be taken against anyone found undermining parental trust and that unregistered nurseries would face severe consequences.
Kakar has directed relevant authorities to launch comprehensive inspections of all child nurseries across Balochistan and to expedite the licensing process. The goal is to ensure that only institutions operating in full compliance with prescribed safety and legal standards are allowed to function.
The minister issued a final warning that strict legal action would be taken against violators, with no leniency shown. The crackdown aims to safeguard children and restore parental confidence in early childhood care facilities throughout the province
