BAGHDAD: Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu met Iraqi Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Muhannad Ghalib Muhammad Radi Al-Asadi.
The two leaders discussed bilateral military cooperation, professional interests, and operational coordination. They emphasised joint training, capacity building, aviation industry collaboration, and mutual operational synergy.
The PAF Chief received a historic and grand welcome at the Iraqi Air Force headquarters, where a disciplined guard of honour was presented, reflecting respect and brotherly ties between the two air forces.
The meeting highlighted the deep religious, cultural, and historical links between Pakistan and Iraq, which form the foundation of long-standing military relations.
Air Chief Sidhu reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for enhancing Iraqi Air Force training and capabilities. Both sides agreed to hold joint exercises and training programs.
The Iraqi commander praised the professional expertise of the Pakistan Air Force and its world-class training system. He expressed interest in Iraqi pilots learning directly from PAF’s experienced aviators.

The Iraqi side also showed interest in potential acquisition of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, integration of advanced trainer aircraft, and comprehensive lifecycle support.
The visit underscores Pakistan and Iraq’s commitment to strengthening defence ties, increasing professional collaboration, and establishing lasting relationships between their air forces.
