One phone call can make you loose all your money

ISLAMABAD: Authorities have issued a warning to mobile phone users after reports emerged of a new phone-call scam that can lead to financial loss and data theft.

According to the advisory, users are receiving calls from an unknown number (051)7080507, and answering these calls can potentially compromise their mobile devices.

Cybersecurity experts warn that if a call from this number is received, it should not be answered under any circumstances.

If a user accidentally answers such a call, hackers may gain unauthorized access to the phone, including sensitive data stored on the device.

This scam does not rely solely on obtaining an OTP; instead, it exploits a software vulnerability that allows attackers to intercept data during the call itself.

Experts say the entire hacking process can be completed within just five to seven seconds, making it extremely dangerous and difficult to detect in real time.

Once access is gained, hackers can potentially steal personal information, banking details, and other confidential data from the device.

Mobile users are advised to avoid answering calls from unknown or suspicious numbers and to immediately block and report such numbers.

It is strongly recommended to keep mobile operating systems and apps updated, as updates often include important security patches.

Users should also disable unnecessary permissions, avoid clicking on unknown links, and install reliable security or antivirus applications on their phones.

Sharing personal details, verification codes, or banking information over calls should be strictly avoided.

Staying alert and informed remains the most effective way to protect against such cyber scams.
