Pakistan, China confirm strategic partnership at Beijing Dialogue

BEIJING: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi confirmed that the Pakistan-China friendship remains vital for regional peace, stability and prosperity, as the two sides co-chaired the 7th round of the Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue in Beijing.

Furthermore, Foreign Minister Dar arrived in Beijing at the invitation of Wang Yi, primarily to lead Pakistan’s delegation at the strategic dialogue, which is considered the highest consultative mechanism between the two countries.

Moreover, Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) said both leaders underlined the importance of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and agreed to further strengthen coordination at bilateral and multilateral forums.

The two sides reviewed the full spectrum of Pakistan-China relations and exchanged views on key regional and global developments.

In such a case, discussions covered cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), trade and investment, multilateral collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges.

In this sense, both foreign ministers also agreed to jointly celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, marking a major milestone in bilateral ties.

The FO said Dar and Wang Yi jointly unveiled the official logo for the 75th anniversary, formally launching year-long commemorative activities to be held throughout 2026 in both countries.

Meanwhile, the previous, sixth round of the strategic dialogue was held in Islamabad in August, during which Wang Yi met Pakistan’s civilian leadership and confirmed China’s commitment to supporting regional peace and development in cooperation with Pakistan.

So far, Dar also held several high-level meetings with senior Chinese leaders. He met Chinese Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, with both sides reasserting their commitment to further deepening the all-weather strategic partnership.

The FO said Vice Premier Ding appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support on issues of core interest to China and conveyed New Year greetings to the Pakistani leadership and people.

Dar also met Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the steady progress in bilateral relations, reviewed party-to-party exchanges, regional developments, and assessed progress on CPEC-related projects.

The FO noted that Dar’s visit indicates the regular high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China and demonstrates their shared resolve to expand cooperation while reaffirming their commitment to regional peace, stability and sustainable development.
