RAWALPINDI: Three army personnel martyred during the snow-clearance operation in Burzil Pass.
A snow clearance operation was carried out during the night of 2/3 January 2026 to reopen Burzil Pass and ensure operational movement of Pakistan Army forces in the area.
The operation, conducted under extreme weather conditions using heavy machinery, was led by Captain Asmad (28), a resident of Lahore.
At around 2:00 AM on 03 January, a sudden snow slide occurred during the operation, trapping Captain Asmad, two soldiers, and a civilian machine operator of the Public Works Department (PWD).
Following strenuous rescue efforts, all four individuals were recovered from the snow.
However, Captain Asmad, Sepoy Rizwan (32), a resident of Attock, and machine operator Essa from Astore later succumbed to their injuries and embraced martyrdom.
Their supreme sacrifice stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment, courage, and devotion of Pakistan Armed Forces in fulfilling their duty to defend the nation under all circumstances.
The ISPR has said that the security forces vow to defend every inch of the motherland no matters what situation comes across.
The martyrs’ sacrifiece is a bright example of Pakistan Army’s resolve for the soverignty of the country.
