Pakistan Leads India in Economic, Peace Optimism: Global Survey

ISLAMABAD: Public confidence in Pakistan’s economic future and global peace has risen sharply at the start of 2026, according to a global Gallup economic survey.

The survey, conducted across 60 countries, shows Pakistan outperforming regional rival India and exceeding the global average on several key indicators measuring economic optimism and perceptions of peace.

Pakistan Leads India on Key Areas

Gallup found that 51% of Pakistanis remain optimistic about the year ahead. Overall, 31% expressed a positive outlook on the country’s future, placing Pakistan above both India and the global mean.

On economic prospects, 53% of respondents in Pakistan believe 2026 will bring prosperity. The figure compares with 39% in India and a global average of 24%, highlighting stronger economic confidence among Pakistanis.

Optimism about global peace also stood out. The survey showed 52% of Pakistanis expect an improvement in global peace conditions, compared with 26% in India.

Gallup noted that optimism about peace in Pakistan has reached its highest level since 1994, marking a significant shift in public sentiment.

Analysts say the findings reflect growing confidence among Pakistan’s population and suggest a changing perception of the country’s economic stability and role in regional and global affairs.
