Under Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti’s administration since March 2024 and with Inspector General of Police Mohammad Tahir Khan at the helm, Balochistan Police has undergone several reforms aimed at modernization, capacity building, and enhanced counter-terrorism capabilities amid rising security challenges.

Balochistan Police reforms under the current administration include the ongoing integration of the Levies Force into the regular police structure to improve coordination and efficiency.

Merit-based recruitment is being implemented for positions such as Assistant Sub-Inspectors to enhance transparency and professionalism.

Forensic tools, digital investigation capabilities, upgraded communication systems, and strengthened special operations units have been introduced.

Training efforts have been significantly expanded with new anti-terrorism programs, simulation drills, and improved infrastructure at the Police Training College in Quetta, which now features modern mess facilities, housing, and health services for personnel.

Welfare measures have seen historic improvements, including doubled financial assistance for families of martyrs, increased support for widows and retired employees, and educational incentives for officers’ children.

The force is gradually being equipped with modern technology to address contemporary challenges. Greater emphasis is placed on strengthening public-police communication, discipline, teamwork, and overall proficiency.

These reforms are designed to develop a more capable police force better equipped to tackle terrorism and crime, although ongoing militant threats in the province require sustained commitment and implementation.
