ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s government is preparing a cut in fuel prices from Jan. 1, offering relief to consumers at the start of the new year, officials said.
Authorities drafted the plan after a sharp fall in global crude oil prices. The proposed reduction will apply for the next 15 days.
Official sources said petrol prices could drop by up to Rs10.60 per litre. High-speed diesel prices may fall by up to Rs8.59 per litre.
Kerosene prices are expected to decline by Rs8.92 per litre. Light diesel oil could become cheaper by Rs6.62 per litre.
If approved, the petrol price will fall to around Rs252.85 per litre from the current Rs263.45.
High-speed diesel will drop to about Rs257.06 per litre from Rs265.65.
Kerosene prices are likely to fall to Rs171.62 per litre from Rs180.54.
