OTAWA: Terrorist activities emerging from Afghanistan have become a serious threat to international security.
Afghan nationals have been involved in acts of terrorism and criminal activities such as drug trafficking across various countries.
In a recent development, another Afghan citizen linked to terrorism has been arrested in Canada.
According to the Afghan publication Hasht-e Subh, Canadian police arrested a 26-year-old Afghan national, Walid Khan, in Toronto on charges related to terrorist activities and alleged links with ISIS.
Authorities claim that the suspect was involved in providing financial support and managing social media accounts for ISIS, as well as participating in plans to carry out killings.
Investigations revealed that Walid Khan conspired with unidentified individuals to commit terrorist acts.
A large cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from his possession during the arrest.
Just a day before his detention, an Afghan asylum seeker in Austria was arrested on drug-related charges and deported to Afghanistan.
Analysts warn that under the patronage of the Afghan Taliban regime, unchecked terrorist groups have become a growing global challenge, while the production and trafficking of narcotics inside Afghanistan continue unabated.
It is worth mentioning that previously, an Afghan national Rehmanullah was arrested from the Washington DC last month for shot-killing two national guards in an area close to the White House.
Similiary, the Afghan militants launched a terrorist-attack in Tajikistan killing two Chinese national working for a company.
The militant launched drone attack on the Chinese nationals.
The Afghan nationals have been involved in some thousands of militant’s attacks in KP and Balohcistan areas of Pakistan for the past many decades.
Thousands of innocent people have been killed in the militant attacks.
Pakistan has repeatedly asked the Afghan government not to let the militants operate from their territory, however, the Taliban-led Afghan government has not yet taken any necessary measures in this regard.
