ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has forecasted rain accompanied by strong winds in various regions today, along with snowfall on the mountains.
Fog and smog are likely to persist in eastern Punjab and upper Sindh.
Rain and snowfall on mountains are expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Rain, along with snowfall on higher elevations, is anticipated in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, and Kohistan.
Rain and snowfall are also expected in Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, and Khyber.
Strong winds accompanied by rain have been predicted in Attock, Jhelum, Murree, and Galliyat.
The weather department has reported snowfall in Kurram, Parachinar, Chilas, Neelum and Leepa Valley, Nanga Parbat, Babusar Top, and Babusar Pass.
Morover, Snowfall has hit Shogran, Naran, Kaghan and Muzaffarabar area along other parts of Azaf Jamu and Kashmir.
The temperature in Peshawar, Nathiagali, Abbottabad, and other parts of KP has dropped after rain earlier this morning.
Intense fog has hit parts of Punjab and Sindh, reducing visibility to only 100 meters.
Meanwhile, the M2, M3, M4, M5, and M11 motorways have been closed to traffic due to dense fog.
After a long wait, the series of rains has finally begun in Balochistan province as well.
Following yesterday’s rainfall, a significant increase in cold intensity was recorded across the province.
In Chaman city, Qilla Abdullah, and Toba Achakzai, strong winds accompanied by rain caused electricity poles and walls to collapse in several areas, and trees were uprooted.
The spokesperson for the Motorway Police has said that the closure of the motorways is aimed at ensuring the safety of travellers’ lives.
The Motorway Police has advised travellers to take precautionary measures while driving to avoid any unwanted incidents.
According to the spokesperson, travellers should prioritize travelling during daytime.
However, a moderate weather has been reported in Karachi as winds blow at the speed of 3 km per hour in the North-Eastern part of Karachi.
