The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has projected itself as the dominant political force in Quetta ahead of the upcoming local government polls, declaring it will prove its strength at a major councilors' convention scheduled for December 23.

QUETTA: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has projected itself as the dominant political force in Quetta ahead of the upcoming local government polls, declaring it will prove its strength at a major councilors’ convention scheduled for December 23.

Senior party leaders, including Quetta District Ameer Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafique and Secretary General Haji Ainullah Shams, expressed confidence while addressing election campaign gatherings. They asserted that the JUI will emerge as the “largest and most organized party” at the convention.

The leaders claimed that the most nominated candidates from Quetta district, including those who succeeded unopposed, will participate in full force. They framed this anticipated turnout as clear proof of the party’s public popularity and robust organizational structure.

“The most nominated candidates from Quetta district… will participate in the convention in a full-fledged manner, which is a clear proof of the public popularity and strong organizational structure of the party,” the leaders stated.

Outlining their agenda, the speakers emphasized that the JUI is determined to transform the local government system into an effective mechanism for public service. They pledged that elected representatives would take serious, practical steps to solve citizens’ basic problems.

In a parallel development, the JUI’s Zarghun Town Committee held a meeting under the chairmanship of Maulana Muhammad Ayub. The session, attended by figures like Mufti Rozi Khan Badizai and Mufti Saeed Ahmed, reviewed the ongoing election campaign and organizational matters in detail, resolving to finalize all preparations for the pivotal December 23 convention.

Meanwhile the National Party has intensified its push for timely and transparent local government elections in the provincial capital, convening a major meeting of its candidates and officials from all four towns of Quetta.

The meeting, chaired by the party’s central secretary-general, Mir Kabir Muhammad Shahi, saw robust participation from key leaders including Provincial President Aslam Baloch, central vice president Dr. Ishaq Baloch, and MPAs Khair Jan Baloch and Kulsoom Niaz Baloch. Representatives from Sariab, Chalti, Zarghoon, and Techno Town presented reports, reaffirming the party’s commitment to the democratic process.
