QUETTA: Inspector General (IG) of Balochistan Police, Abdul Khalique Shaikh, unveiled a transformative modernization plan for the force while addressing the prestigious passing out parade of the 104th Recruit Course at the Police Training College (PTC) here on Wednesday. Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti was the chief guest at the ceremony.
In a policy speech that blended tribute with future vision, the IG honored the martyrs of the 2016 PTC terrorist attack, sending a clear message to adversaries. “The blood of the martyrs will not go in vain,” he declared, asserting that the force’s morale “is strong like a rock.”
Looking forward, Sheikh announced a revolutionary roadmap to catapult the Balochistan Police into a new era of technology and precision. The plan involves phasing out traditional methods and equipping the force with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and long-range precision weapons. He further disclosed that specialized schools are being established to provide advanced training in counter-terrorism (CTD), investigation, and other critical fields.
Acknowledging the provincial government’s ongoing support for infrastructure—such as construction work, a grand mess hall, sports grounds, and a police grammar school—the IG also presented a list of pressing institutional needs to CM Bugti. Key demands included a separate electricity feeder to end persistent load-shedding, repair of the damaged sewage system and broken roads, and the construction of family apartments for staff.
The IG also highlighted the increased operational burden following the integration of the Levies Force into the police structure, emphasizing the need for additional resources to manage these expanded responsibilities effectively.
Concluding his address, he congratulated the newly passed-out recruits on entering practical service, urging them to uphold the force’s honor and commitment to safeguarding the province. The announcements signal a significant shift towards a more technologically adept and strategically equipped Balochistan Police.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti delivered a resolute message on national resilience and security, declaring Pakistan an “invincible reality” built on its Constitution and the sacrifices of its people. He was speaking at the 104th Passing Out Parade of the Balochistan Police at the Police Training College on Saturday.
