ISLAMABAD: India’s hostile military ambitions have become increasingly evident, particularly following the induction of Rafale fighter jets and the accelerated acquisition of expensive military hardware and advanced weapon systems.
India has procured arms from several countries, including the United States, Russia, Spain, France, and Israel.
These purchases include helicopters, radar systems, fighter aircraft, rockets, firearms, assault rifles, and large quantities of ammunition.
The Indian government is also considering a 20 to 25 percent increase in its defense budget, while new weapons programs are being justified under the pretext of so-called “Operation Sindoor Two.”
India’s defense spending is many times higher than Pakistan’s, with New Delhi allocating approximately 78 billion US dollars for defense, compared to Pakistan’s defense budget, which stands at around 1.97 percent of its GDP.
India’s total budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 is estimated at 600 billion dollars, far exceeding Pakistan’s financial capacity.
At the same time, India has evidently been supporting and sponsoring militant groups using Afghan territory to fuel terrorism inside Pakistan.
In May, India clearly violated international laws by launching missile and drone strikes against Pakistan based on unsubstantiated claims related to the Pahalgam incident.
It is worth mentioning that country like India are the ones mainly responsible for rising a hype of the warfares that lead to a need of buying more weapons for both India and Pakistan.
The two countries have millions of people living well below the poverty line being deprived of the baisc necessaities of lives.
The aim should to be spend more on the human development and rising infrastructure in both the countries.
Taken together, these developments suggest that the region is increasingly moving toward serious imbalance, instability, and the risk of a major conventional conflict in South Asia.
