QUETTA: The government of Balochistan will organise Climate Finance Summit in Islamabad to unlock climate finance and drive real resilience on the ground and turning climate ambition into climate action.
As per details, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan chaired a meeting on plans to establish an urban forest in Quetta. Officials reviewed proposals to expand green cover in urban areas.
He said that Balochistan will hold a summit in Islamabad on 8 December which will be attended by leaders, partners and innovators in Islamabad to unlock climate finance and turn ambition into action.
The chief secretary said the government has announced a major urban forestry project on Sariab Road. The project will cover 63 acres. Its goal is to improve the city’s environmental ecosystem.
The government plans to plant thousands of trees to create an accessible green space for residents. He said the project will link natural vegetation with urban infrastructure. This integration will help cut pollution and reduce summer temperatures.
He said urban forests also improve carbon credits. Increased tree cover absorbs carbon dioxide and reduces greenhouse gases.
The chief secretary directed officials to plant trees along roads as well.
