PESHAWAR: The investigators have confirmed that the suicide bombers involved in the attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters were Afghan nationals.
In this regard, the Investigation authorities said that the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has verified the Afghan identity of all three attackers. However, officials noted that NADRA has not yet received additional background details that could further assist in tracing the suspects’ movements or possible affiliations.
The confirmation indicates a vital development in the inquiry into the November 24 suicide bombing, which targeted the FC headquarters in Peshawar. The incident raised serious security concerns and prompted an extensive investigation by law-enforcement agencies.
Furthermore, more than 100 individuals have been questioned so far in connection with the attack. Investigators have also obtained surveillance footage showing the attackers traveling from the Rehman Baba graveyard area to the FC headquarters.
The recovered footage is expected to help authorities piece together the attackers’ route and identify any individuals who may have facilitated their movement.
The inquiry team is now focused on identifying potential facilitators who may have provided logistical support. Moreover, the security agencies are reviewing available evidence, including the attackers’ entry pathways, possible hideouts, and any networks that may have assisted them before the incident.
The November 24 suicide attack caused widespread alarm and led to a renewed examination of security protocols at sensitive installations.
Meanwhile, the government officials have focused on that the investigation is progressing and that all leads are being thoroughly pursued to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The inquiry is expected to continue over the coming days as investigators work to gather more information, identify facilitators, and uncover the motives behind the attack.
