QUETTA: A targeted explosion hit the Kambrani Road area of Quetta on Saturday, police said, though no casualties were reported.
Officials said the incident involved two blasts in close succession. The first detonated on the roadside, followed shortly by a second, more targeted explosion near a vehicle belonging to the Crime Investigation Team (CIT). Authorities confirmed the device was an improvised explosive device (IED).
The police vehicle suffered minor damage, but all personnel in and around the scene were unharmed. Security forces quickly cordoned off the area, and investigative and forensic teams were dispatched to collect evidence and begin a detailed probe.
Police said the attack appeared aimed at the CIT vehicle, indicating an attempt to target security personnel. The successful detonation of an IED on a main road highlights continuing security challenges in the region.
Authorities said the absence of casualties was a fortunate outcome and confirmed the investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
