BCFR chairman decries “heinous” killing of Chinese nationals in Tajikistan

The Balochistan Council for Foreign Relations (BCFR) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Tajikistan that killed three Chinese citizens.

KARACHI: The Balochistan Council for Foreign Relations (BCFR) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Tajikistan that killed three Chinese citizens. In an official statement, BCFR Chairman Chingiz Hussain Khan expressed the council’s deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as to the governments and people of China and Tajikistan.

The attack, which targeted a workers’ camp at a Chinese company in Khatlon province using a drone, was described by Khan as a “heinous,” “barbaric,” and “un-Islamic” crime. He emphasized that targeting innocent non-combatants involved in development projects is an inhumane act that has no justification. The chairman stated that this cross-border incident serves as a stark reminder that terrorism is a pervasive regional threat, not merely a national one.

Chairman Khan used the statement to underscore the urgent need for a united regional front against all forms of terrorism and militancy. He reaffirmed BCFR’s zero-tolerance policy towards any group that employs violence and stressed the importance of distinguishing legitimate political movements from the agendas of banned terrorist organizations. The council expressed its full solidarity with both China and Tajikistan, recognizing them as key partners for regional stability and development through initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The BCFR called on all regional governments to take immediate and verifiable action. It urged enhanced security cooperation to dismantle the infrastructure supporting terrorist acts, including securing borders and cutting off funding and logistical networks. “Peace and development cannot thrive where the scourge of terrorism is tolerated,” Khan asserted, calling for a concerted effort to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure a secure future for the region.

Meanwhile in aseprate move, in a major step toward industrial development in Balochistan has been taken as the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OCH Group for a large-scale investment project.

Under the agreement, a German company, in partnership with OCH Group, will establish an energy and oil refinery infrastructure in Hub at a cost of 50 million US dollars.
