QUETTA: Marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Balochistan on Women Development, stated that violence against women is a corrosive force that weakens the intellectual, social, and moral fabric of society. In a special message, she emphasized the profound and wide-ranging impacts of such violence.

Dr. Buledi clarified that violence is not limited to physical harm but manifests in various forms, including domestic abuse, harassment, intimidation, humiliation, and economic pressure. She explained that these acts severely damage a woman’s freedom, confidence, self-esteem, and dignity. The adviser highlighted that the challenges women face extend beyond individual acts to pervasive issues of societal attitudes, speech, environment, and power imbalances.

“When a woman does not feel safe in her home, workplace or public place, it is not only a loss to her identity but also creates imbalance, uncertainty and instability in the society,” Dr. Buledi stated. She asserted that a society which keeps half of its population in a state of fear, coercion, or economic helplessness can never achieve progress.

Defining a civilized society, she stressed that its true identity lies in providing women with protection, respect, and the complete freedom to make their own life decisions. To this end, Dr. Buledi announced that the Balochistan government is fully implementing a zero-tolerance policy against violence towards women. She outlined practical steps being taken, including effective legislation, strengthening government institutions, public awareness programs, helplines, shelter homes, and robust support services. Concluding her message, the Adviser called for a crucial shift in societal attitudes to ensure women can live safe, dignified, and empowered lives.

Meanwhile the Mir Zahoor Buledi, Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, has stated that the government is making concerted efforts to enhance revenue streams and optimize resources for the welfare and development of the people of Balochistan. The minister made these assertions in a statement posted on his official social media account, outlining the administration’s fiscal and developmental priorities.
