Drugs worth millions captured in Quetta

Quetta: The Customs Department in Quetta has seized crystal ice worth Rs 136.6 million during a major anti-smuggling operation.

According to the FBR Headquarters, the Field Enforcement Unit (FEU) Nuttal of the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement) Quetta successfully foiled a large attempt to smuggle narcotics, recovering methamphetamine (crystal ice) valued at over Rs 136.6 million.

This significant action marks an important milestone in the ongoing campaign against drug smuggling.

Acting on verified intelligence, customs officials stopped a passenger vehicle and recovered 2 kilograms of crystal ice (methamphetamine) hidden inside a bag.

Officials said the suspect was arrested on the spot, and legal proceedings have begun under the Customs Act of 1969.

The seized narcotics have been transferred to the Customs Warehouse for further action.

Over the past five years, law enforcement agencies in Balochistan  including Customs, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Frontier Corps (FC), and local police  have conducted multiple major operations resulting in the seizure of large quantities of narcotics.

These drug busts have included crystal ice (methamphetamine), heroin, hashish (charas), opium, and other illegal substances.

The province’s vast and rugged terrain, along with its proximity to international trafficking routes, makes it a key transit point for smuggling networks.

During this period, authorities have intercepted drug consignments worth billions of rupees, often hidden in vehicles, goods shipments, or remote border regions.

Several traffickers have been arrested under strict legal provisions, and many operations were based on credible intelligence.

Despite frequent seizures, smuggling attempts continue due to high demand and cross-border trafficking networks, making anti-narcotics enforcement an ongoing challenge in Balochistan.
