ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday denied carrying out air strikes inside Afghanistan, saying any claims of Afghansitan circulating on social media are false and propaganda.
Security officials said Pakistan publicly acknowledges its actions whenever it conducts cross-border strikes. They added that any explosions reported in the mentioned Afghan areas were likely the result of internal feuds, militant infighting, or possible incidents staged by infiltrated groups.
The officials accused Afghan authorities of shifting blame onto Pakistan for their internal security problems. They said several pictures shared online were old or doctored.
Pakistan said Kabul was under pressure and feared a possible response after recent terror attacks in Islamabad, Wana College and Peshawar. Officials said Pakistan reserved the right to respond and would do so openly if it chose to act.
