Balochistan community voices concern after girl’s alleged abduction in Hub

HUB: The local residents in Hub’s Daroo area mentioned the alleged abduction of a 15-year-old girl, identified as Nasreena Baloch, daughter of Dilawar. As per the initial accounts from community sources, armed individuals associated with the banned group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) forcibly took the girl and left the area in a vehicle.

In this regard, the official confirmation from law-enforcement agencies was still awaited at the time of reporting, the incident has created widespread concern among local communities, particularly regarding the growing trend of women and underage girls being targeted, coerced, or exploited by militant groups.

In this sense, the region described the reported abduction as an alarming development that not only endangers the safety of local women but also violates long-held Baloch cultural values.

They focused on the fact that women in Baloch society are traditionally accorded high respect, protection, and a revered status within their families and tribes.

So far, several voices expressed the view that using women for militant purposes through coercion, confinement in remote camps, or alleged blackmail constitutes a deep affront to the values that the Baloch community has upheld for generations.

Moreover, the local leaders stressed that targeting women for militant recruitment or operations further destabilizes an already fragile security environment and inflicts emotional and psychological trauma on families.

They called on all stakeholders to ensure the protection of women and to prevent armed groups from manipulating or endangering them.

However, the human rights observers have also urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the reported abduction and to take effective measures to safeguard vulnerable individuals, particularly minors, in conflict-affected regions.
