JEIWANI: A recent inspection of government schools in the Jiwani, Ganz, and Panwan areas by District Education Officer (Female) Zaratun Bibi has revealed a stark contrast between infrastructural progress and a critical shortage of essential facilities, raising concerns about the quality of education.
While the DEO praised visible improvements in school construction, the state of Early Childhood Education (ECE) classrooms, and general upkeep during her tour, her report highlighted severe deficiencies that are directly impacting students and teachers. Key among the identified shortages are a lack of peons, insufficient teaching and non-teaching materials, and a critical shortage of actual classrooms.
The inspection found that the absence of basic furniture and the non-availability of clean drinking water were widespread issues, despite water tanks being installed at the sites. This lack of infrastructure is forcing students to conduct their lessons in open spaces, a situation the DEO warned is “adversely affecting” student discipline and the overall learning environment.
To mitigate the classroom shortage, Zaratun Bibi recommended the immediate provision of temporary sheds in schools where the construction of new buildings may be delayed. She has urgently called upon higher authorities to address the missing facilities, stressing that immediate action is required to prevent further disruption to the children’s education. The findings underscore the challenge of maintaining educational standards in the region, where physical upgrades are not yet matched by the provision of essential resources.
Meanwhile a severe spike in crime has sent shockwaves through the Nasirabad district, with police reporting multiple armed motorcycle snatchings, a transformer theft, and the recovery of a live hand grenade in a single day, prompting serious public safety concerns.
According to local police, the crime spree involved several brazen incidents. In the Dera Murad Jamali area near Model High School Chowk, armed men snatched a CD 70 motorcycle from Abdul Qadeer Lehari. In a separate but similar event near Chhatar Road, three armed suspects stole a motorcycle.
