QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai has summoned an in-camera session of the provincial assembly today at 3 pm to discuss the security situation in Balochistan.
Yesterday, Abdul Khaliq Achakzai announced that members of both the opposition and treasury benches would receive a closed-door briefing on the province’s law and order situation.
The development comes after multiple members raised concerns over deteriorating security in the region during the assembly session. Members from the treasury and opposition benches will attend the session. Irrelevant individuals will not be allowed to attend, and media passes have been cancelled.
Last month, Speaker Balochistan Assembly Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai had met with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House and discussed the security situation in Balochistan.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid rich tribute to the Pakistan security forces for their unwavering sacrifices to restore and maintain peace in the province. He said the Pakistan Army continues to play a vital role in ensuring stability and countering terrorism in Balochistan.
Highlighting regional security challenges, the Speaker vowed to defeat the “Fitna al Hindustan backed by India and aimed at destabilising peace. He said the state will firmly counter such malicious designs and ensure that terrorism finds no space in the country.
