RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army said it killed 15 militants linked to India proxy Fitna al Khawarij in two operations in KP – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operations followed intelligence reports of militant presence on November 15 and 16. Troops carried out the operations in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan and in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan.
ISPR said security forces engaged the militants in Kulachi and killed 10 fighters, including their ring leader Alam Mehsud.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in Datta Khel, troops killed five more militants. The military described all 15 as members of the India-linked Fitna al Khawarij network (TTP).
ISPR said sanitisation operations are under way to clear the areas of any remaining militants.
It added that security forces will continue counterterrorism actions under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” plan approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
Last week on Saturday, security forces had carried out an intellegnece-based operation in Bannu and killed 15 terrorists associated with Fitna al Khawarij.
According to the reports, the militants were hiding in an abandoned house in the Domel area of the district that they had monitored for a month. Intelligence reports confirmed the presence of militants who were using the site to plan and launch attacks in nearby areas.
