Pakistan Reopens Sorap Mand Crossing With Iran For Trade

Pakistan reopens Sorap Mand crossing with Iran for trade

MAND: The Sorap Mand border crossing between Pakistan and Iran has reopened to facilitate legal trade and curb smuggling, officials said Monday.

The reopening aims to provide new employment and business opportunities for people living along both sides of the border.

Officials said reopening the permanent crossing in Mand-Pishin will boost business activity in the Kech district and Makran Division of Balochistan.

The trade point had been closed for a long time, severely affecting commerce and increasing unemployment in the region. Its reopening has brought relief and optimism across Mand and the wider Makran division.

Local traders and citizens called the move historic, saying it will usher in a new era of economic activity.

Residents credited Deputy Commissioner Kech Bashir Ahmed Baraich, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries Haji Barkat Rind, IGFC General Bilal Sarfaraz, and other authorities for prioritizing public interest in reviving the trade point.

Officials said the reopening will ease delivery of food, fuel, construction materials, and other daily necessities to local markets.

It will also boost small businesses, the transport sector, and create new employment opportunities for youth.
