Traffic Advisory issued for the cricket even starting on 18

ISLAMABAD:  The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Monday released a special traffic advisory for the ongoing Tri-Nations Cricket Series, announcing temporary closures at major entry points to the Red Zone due to team movements and heightened security measures.

According to an ITP official, the Serena Gate in the Red Zone will remain closed whenever teams are on the move.

In a separate statement, the spokesperson added that the NADRA Gate will also stay closed for all types of traffic.

The Express Entry Gate has similarly been shut down as part of the strengthened security arrangements.

The official advised that residents wanting to enter the Red Zone should use Margalla Road or Marriott Road as alternative routes.

For those traveling toward Club Road, access will be available through 7th Avenue or Embassy Road, connecting further via Srinagar Highway.

The spokesperson noted that the public can receive real-time traffic updates via ITP’s helpline 1915, FM 92.4, and official social media accounts.

He added that the cooperation and patience of citizens will help ensure smooth traffic flow during the planned team movements.

An ITP official told APP on Sunday that over 300 traffic officers have been deployed to manage traffic flow during match days, team departures, and return movements.

The advisory will remain in place until 29 November.

According to the plan, traffic on Expressway and Srinagar Highway may experience delays, especially during peak hours.

Citizens are advised to add 15-20 minutes of additional time to their travel schedule.

Drone surveillance and digital monitoring are also being used to track congestion points in real time, enabling quick adjustments in deployment where required.
